调查显示国内超七成大学生目前是单身

A recent survey found that 71 percent of college students in China are single.

近期进行的一项调查发现，国内71%的大学生目前是单身。

The survey of 2,394 college students nationwide was conducted in July by MyCOS, an education consulting and research institute in Beijing.

这项调查是由北京一所名叫麦可思的教育咨询和研究机构，在今年7月针对全国2349名大学生进行的。

More than half of the students surveyed remain single because they have a small circle of friends, while 46 percent attributed their singleness to shyness and 45 percent to pickiness in partners.

超过半数受访大学生因为朋友圈小所以仍是单身，46%的大学生将单身归因于性格内向，45%的人则因为对恋爱对象要求较高。

However, 43 percent of students are single because they choose to be. They are simply not interested in being in a serious relationship at this time in life.

但也有43%的学生是因为想要单身而单身，他们只是在人生中的这个时点没兴趣投入到一段认真的恋情中去。

Looking for true love is the most important reason given by college students for entering a relationship, followed by finding companionship, passing the time and having sex.

寻找真爱是大学生谈一段恋爱的最重要的原因，其次是寻找伴侣、消磨时间和做爱。

Good character is the most important factor college students are looking for in a partner, chosen by 96 percent. Personality comes in second with 91 percent.

找对象的大学生最看重的因素是“人格品行”（96%），其次是性格（91%）。

While 74 percent of male students think appearance is important, female students usually have more comprehensive considerations for future partners, including health, intelligence, economic condition and family background.

74%的男生认为外貌很重要，女生则通常对未来伴侣进行的考量更为综合，包括健康、才智、经济状况和家庭背景。
