“公厕新国标”英文表达

卫生部21日就强制性国家标准《公共厕所卫生标准请看新华社报道：

Health authorities have issued a draft regulation that sets standards for public toilets, including limits for odor intensity and the number of flies and maggots.The draft also sets requirements for the design, layout, construction and daily management of public toilets.

卫生部最新发布的草案中对公共厕所的臭味强度和蝇蛆数量等评价指标规定了限值。草案对对公共厕所的规划布局、设施设计、设施建设与日常管理等也提出卫生要求。

New standards on public restrooms指卫生部下面来盘点一下有关卫生间的英语表达：英国人常用“toilet”、“lavatory”来表示厕所；美国人则常用“restroom”、“bathroom”；中国人比较常用的“W.C.”这是“water closet”的缩略语，原意是盥洗室，现西方国家多不用此词，因为会显得粗俗。另外，还可以用“Men's Room/ Ladies' Room”、“loo”、“john”、“the fourth”以及“the Poets’Corner”等来表示卫生间。
