题卡上将该项涂黑。
A
If you go to Finland, you will likely be surprised to find how “foolish” the Finnish people are.Take the taxi drivers for example. Taxis in Finland are mostly high-class Benz with a fare of two US dollars a kilometer. You can go anywhere in one, tell the driver to drop you at any place, say that you have some business to attend to, and then walk off without paying your fare. The driver would not show the least sign of anxiety.
The dining rooms in all big hotels not only serve their guests, but also serve outside diners. Hotel guests have their meals free, so they naturally go to the free dining rooms to have their meals. The most they would do to show their good faith (信任) is to wave their registration (登记) card to the waiter. With such a loose check, you can easily use any old registration card to take a couple of friends to dine free of charge.
The Finnish workers are paid by the hour. They are very much on their own as soon as they have agreed with the boss on the rate. From then on they just say how many hours they have worked and they will be paid accordingly.
With so many loopholes (漏洞)in everyday life, surely Finland must be a heaven to those who love to take “petty advantages”. But the strange thing is, all the taxi passengers would always come back to pay their fare after they have attended to their business; not a single outsider has ever been found in the free hotel dining rooms. And workers always give an honest account of the exact hours they put in. As the Finns always act on good faith in everything they do, living in such a society has turned everyone into a real “gentleman”.
In a society of such high moral(道德的)practice, what need is there for people to be on guard (警惕)against others ?
56. While taking a taxi in Finland, a passenger __________.
A. can never be turned down by the taxi driver wherever he wants to go
B. only pays two US dollars for a taxi ride
C. can go anywhere without having to pay the driver
D. needs to provide good faith demonstration(证明) before leaving without paying
57. We can know from the passage that in Finland __________.

B. big hotels are mostly poorly managed
C. guests can enjoy free food once they stayed in the hotel
D. big hotels provide meals for all kinds of diners
58. Which of the following is NOT true according to the passage?
A. Generally speaking, in Finland, workers can get more pay by working long hours.
B. The bosses are too busy to check the working hours of their employees.
C. The workers are always honest with their working hours.
D. The workers and their bosses will make an agreement in advance about the pay.
59. It can be concluded that _________.
A. Finnish people are really foolish in daily life
B. Finland has been a good place for cheats
C. all the Finns are rich and therefore honest
D. the Finnish society is of very high moral level
B
Parents of the children who show a special interest in a sport feel very difficult to make a decision about their children’s careers. Should they allow their children to train to become top sportsmen and sportswomen? For many children it means starting schoolwork very young. And going out with friends and other interests have to take a second place. It’s very difficult to explain to a young child why he or she has to train five hours a day, even at the weekend, when most of his or her friends are playing.
Another problem is of course money, In many countries money for training is available from government for the very best young sportsmen and sportswomen. If this help can not be given, it means that it is the parents who have to find the time and the money to support their child’s development and sports clothes, transport to competitions, special equipment, etc. All can be expensive.
Many parents are worried that it is dangerous to start serious training in a sport at an early age. Some doctors agree that young muscles may be damaged by training before they are properly developed. Professional trainers, however, believe that it is only by training when young that you can reach the top as a successful sports person. It is clear that very few people do reach the top, and both parents and children should be prepared for failure even after many years of training.
60. Where can we most probably find this passage?
A. an advertisement.
B. a diary.
C. a notice board.
D. a newspaper.

D. It’s not very expensive for parents to support their children’s development in sports.

Most animals have little connection with animals of a different kind, unless they hunt them for food. Sometimes, however, two kinds of animals come together in a partnership (伙伴关系) which is good for both of them. You may have noticed some birds sitting on the backs of sheep. This is not because they want a ride, but because they find easy food in the parasites (寄生虫) on sheep. The sheep allow the birds to do so because they remove the cause of discomfort. So although they can manage without each other, they do better together.
Sometimes animal has a plant partner. The relationship develops until the two partners cannot manage without each other. This is so in the corals(珊瑚) of the sea. In their skins they have tiny plants which act as “dustmen”, taking some of the waste products from the coral and giving in return oxygen which the animal needs to breathe. If the plants are killed, or are even prevented from receiving light so that they cannot live normally, the corals will die.

Studying Abroad
In recent years, studying abroad has become popular among high school students in our country. To this tendency, some people are in favor of it. The supporters think students can better learn foreign language when they are abroad. Besides, the students can experience the advanced technology. Furthermore, studying abroad can broaden the students’ horizon. While others still think it is not good, as most of the young learners whose families have to pay a high education expense cannot take good care of themselves, whereas I hold a different opinion.
In my opinion, it is a good thing that more Chinese students go abroad. There are three reasons. First, the overseas learners can improve their ability through the study. They can grasp advanced technologies and their language ability can be improved as well. Second, with the rapid development of China, more and more overseas learners will choose come back, using their abundant knowledge studied abroad to serve for the motherland. Third, the government and most domestic enterprises are willing to provide favorable treatments to attract them to come back. For the above reasons, I think it is not a bad thing for more and more Chinese students study abroad.
