英国女性人均拥有14个包 买包钱足以买车

Investing in a lifetime's love of handbags costs women the price of a car, according to a new report.

A Simply Be survey of 2,000 women found that the average UK woman splashes out on three new handbags a year at a cost of £32 each, spending over £6,000 - the equivalent of the price of a small car - over a life time.

Handbags were also revealed as the favourite purchase of one in two women, with 53 percent saying they are the fashion item they most enjoy buying for themselves ahead of clothes, jewellery and even shoes.

Although celebrities and wealthy women may think nothing of forking out thousands for just one exclusive designer bag, 63 percent of women will wait patiently for a sale to buy the handbag they want, the study showed.

On average UK women own 14 handbags each, which includes three bags which are used regularly, two others used occasionally, five "best" bags brought out to go with particular outfits and four evening bags.

The most popular colour is black, followed by brown.

The UK handbag market is worth £1.34 billion and grew by 5 percent last year, according to recent figures from market analysts Mintel.
