  (Text 4)

M: What time is our flight coming in? I hope it hasn't been delayed. The weather has been fine these days.

W: Yes, I hope so. Then we'll get home before our son's birthday.

  (Text 5)

W: Tom, why didn't you show up last night?

M: Well, I had an accident. I had to have my car repaired.

W: Oh, sorry about that. Be careful when driving.

  M: Thanks, I will.

  (Text 6)

M: Betty, it's mother's birthday. What present are you going to buy her?

W: I'm not sure. What's in your mind?

M: I suggest you buy her a new mobile phone, for example, iPhone5. Her old phone is out of

date, and it doesn't work well. I think she will like it.

W: Good idea. Wow, mother will follow the fashion. What about you?

M: I think I'll buy her a new bike. Her bike is too old to ride. And she had it repaired many times.

W: Yes. It'll help her do physical exercise. Then, why not buy her a running machine?

quality. For example, in Beijing, environment authorities have passed relevant measures,

urging over 50 companies to cut their waste gas by 30 percent.

W: I hope we'll enjoy better air quality in Beijing soon.

  M: Me too.

to go on. The area that I grew up is actually quite close to the famous mountain range in

South Africa and it runs almost the whole length of the country. And there are so many

camping places that you could go to. Besides, you can go on hikes for like a day, or two

days, a week, ten days, a month if you want to. So I used to go most, I guess most holidays,

or twice or three times a year.

M: Hmm I guess I'd have to say yes to that, but in all my years of hiking, I have seen many

snakes but I've never been bitten or even felt in danger. You know, South Africa is also famous for its many poisonous snakes so, obviously you have to take care and, you'd better go

hiking during times of the year when you are less likely to get caught in a snowstorm or get

snowed in or something but I think if you make adequate preparations there shouldn't be any

problem and it's really, really beautiful.

W: It sounds really nice. How I wish I would get a chance to visit South Africa!

  (Text 10)

Every year, one quarter of the population of Sichuan province and Chongqing city work away from their homes as migrant workers. They find jobs in cities far away from their hometowns

to earn a better living. But the number has been dropping this year.

With the arrival of spring, 24-year-old Gu Qingxia, usband have been working as a cashier and security guard in Guangzhou for 3 years. But this year, they're searching for jobs in Chongqing, only 65 kilometers away from Gu Qingxia's hometown.

Gu Qingxia's husband said, “Our parents are getting old and sick. I want to come back to take care of them.”

This year, the number of migrant workers, like Gu Qingxia and her husband who choose to return home for work is increasing. Most of them are coming back for their families.

They don't want to look forward to every Spring Festival to reunite with their parents and children any more, but to take care of them whenever they want. And they are tired of queuing days and nights for a ticket back home during the travel rush.

Besides family, there are other reasons to attract migrant workers back to their hometowns.

A migrant worker said, “Of course the salary is a bit higher in Shenzhen than in Chongqing. But living costs are low here, so I can save more money.”
