A
This year some twenty-three hundred teen-agers (young people aged from 13-19) from all over the world will spend about ten months in U.S. homes. They will attend U.S. schools, meet U.S. teen-agers, and form impressions of the real America. At the same time, about thirteen hundred American teen-agers will go to other countries to learn new languages and gain a new understanding of the rest of the world.
Here is a two-way student exchange (交换) in action . Fred, nineteen, spent last year in Germany with George's family. In turn, George's son Mike spent a year in Fred's home in America.
Fred a lively young man, knew little German when he arrived but after two months' study, the language began to come to him. School was completely different from what he had expected---much harder. Students rose respectfully when the teacher entered the room. They took fourteen subjects instead of the six that are usual in the United States. There were almost no outside activities (活动).
Family life, too, was different. The father's word was law, and all activities were around the family rather than the individual (个人). Fred found the food too simple at first. Also
he missed having a car.
"Back home, you pick up some friends in a car and go out and have a good time. In Germany, you walk, but you soon learn to like it."
At the same time, in America, Mike, a friendly German boy, was also forming his idea. " I suppose I should criticize (批评) American schools," he says. "It is far too easy by our level. But I have to say that I like it very much. In Germany we do nothing but study. Here we take part in many outside activities. I think that maybe your schools are better in training for citizens (公民). There ought to be some middle ground between the two. "

(一)[2017·广东普宁英才侨中、建新高中月考]
Normally a student must attend a certain number of courses in order to graduate, and each course which he attends gives him a credit which he may count towards a degree. In many American universities the total work for a degree consists of thirtysix courses, each lasting for one semester.A typical course consists of three classes per week for fifteen weeks; while attending a university a student will probably attend four or five courses during each semester.Normally a student would expect to take four years attending two semesters each year.It is possible to spread the period of work for the degree over a longer period. It is also possible for a student to move between one university and another during his degree course, though this is not in fact done as a regular practice.
For every course that he follows a student is given a grade, which is recorded, and the record is available for the student to show to future employers. All this imposes a constant pressure and stress of work, but in spite of this some students still find time for great activity in student affairs.Elections to positions in student organizations arouse much enthusiasm. The effective work of maintaining discipline is usually performed by students who advise the academic authorities.Any student who is thought to have broken the rules, for example, by cheating has to appear before a student court. With the enormous numbers of students, the operation of the system does involve a certain amount of activity.A student who has held one of these positions of authority is much respected and will be of benefit to him later in his career.

“People are ruder today because they are rushed and more ‘time poor’ than ever before,” says Patsy Rowe, “ Manners have fallen off the radar(雷达).” Due to our strong attraction to electronic equipment it is a wonder more people don’t wake up each morning and greet the singing birds with a complaint(抱怨)about the noise. Here are some examples of rudeness.
Some people prefer to do almost everything over the internet. To them, dealing with an actual human is like an evolutionary step backward. It feels very slow because humans don’t work at 4G speeds. When you have dinner with friends, you will often notice someone paying more attention to his mobile phone. We have programmed ourselves to think that every new message brings life-changing news, so taking calls and checking our texts are more important than talking to the people we are with. What is worse, some people even tend to send anonymous(匿名的) rude messages by email.
However, rudeness is never acceptable, Don’t assume it is OK to be rude if the person you’re in touch with won’t recognize you. If you have something awful to say, have the courage to face the person and say it, write a letter or email and sign it, or forget it. Upsetting people with unsigned messages is cruel and disgusting.
We shouldn’t blame technology for our shortcomings.Technology is here to help us, but we should not allow it to take over our lives. An important step ia acknowledging our shortcomings.People spend a lot of time pointing out bad manners but it would be even more help if we′d publicly acknowledge good manners when we see them.

A.they are becoming less patient
B.they are growing too independent
C.they have to handle many important messages
D.they have to follow an evolutionary step backward.
70.The author thinks sending unsigned awful messages is
A.Ridiculous B.disgusting C.acceptable D.reasonable
71.What can we learn from the last paragraph?
A.We should applaud good behabior.
B.Technology can neber be blamed

D.Technology will take over lives one day.
【答案解析】D
Betty and Harold have been married for years. But one thing still puzzles (困扰) old Harold. How is it that he can leave Betty and her friend Joan sitting on the sofa, talking, go out to a ball-game, come back three and a half hours later, and they're still sitting on the sofa? Talking?
What in the world, Harold wonders, do they have to talk about?
Betty shrugs. Talk? We're friends.
Researching this matter called friendship, psychologist Lillian Rubin spent two years interviewing more than two hundred women and men. No matter what their age, their job, their sex, the results were completely clear: women have more friendships than men, and the difference in the content and the quality of those friendships is "marked and unmistakable. "
More than two-thirds of the single men Rubin interviewed could not name a best friend. Those who could were likely to name a woman. Yet three-quarters of the single women had no problem naming a best friend, and almost always it was a woman. More married men than women named their wife/husband as a best friend, most trusted person, or the one they would turn to in time of emotional distress (感情危机) ."Most women," says Rubin, "identified (认定) at least one, usually more, trusted friends to whom they could turn in a troubled moment, and they spoke openly about the importance of these relationships in their lives. "
"In general,"' writes Rubin in her new book, "women' s friendships with each other rest on shared emotions and support, but men' s relationships are marked by shared activities. " For the most part, Rubin says, interactions (交往) between men are emotionally controlled---a good fit with the social requirements of "manly behavior. "
" Even when a man is said to be a best friend," Rubin writes, " the two share little about their innermost feelings. Whereas a woman' s closest female friend might be the first to tell her to leave a failing marriage, it wasn't unusual to hear a man say he didn' t know his friend's marriage was in serious trouble until he appeared one night asking if he could sleep on the sofa. "

A. a male friend
B. a female friend
C. her parents
D. her husband
3. According to the text, which type of behavior is NOT expected of a man by society?

【答案解析】
E篇谈的是社会问题,可读性很强。
71.答:B最佳【分析】根据文章第一、二段可知答案。
72.答:B最佳【分析】根据第四段和第五段最后一句"...women have more friends than men,...""most women," says Rubin, "identified at least one, usually more, trusted friends to whom they could turn in a troubled moment, ...,"(罗宾说‘大多数妇女至少认定一个,通常有多个在困境时他们可以求助的挚友,...’)

Intellectual property (IP) is a product of the mind that has commercial value. The concept dates back to 1623 when the first patent law to protect IP sights was passed. IP rights protect the artist from having his/her creative ideas copied by another. For example, if somebody generated an idea for a novel, that idea is protected by IP rights. If someone else wishes to represent the idea or develop it further, he/ she must consult the original artists, who will normally be rewarded financially for its use. Back in the 17th century, IP rights were primarily carried out to protect newly developed manufacturing processes against stealing. But today, intellectual property rights, are also enjoyed by those who creative music, art and literature.
In recent years, IP rights have been the focus of a great deal of discussion because of a technology which looks set to weaken them altogether; the Internet. Many years ago, if you wanted a recording of a song, you would have to purchase it from a music store; if a novel, form a book store. In those days, IP rights were easily protected since it was very difficult to obtain intellectual property without paying for it. However, a lot of IP, including songs, films, books and artwork, can be downloaded today free of charge using the Internet. This practice has now taken the world by storm, dramatically affecting the way in which we view IP rights.
68. According to the writer, in the beginning, If rights were mainly of use to ______.
A. those creating music, art and literature
B. novelists
C. engineers and inventors
D. those not receiving financial reward for their work
69. What do we know about the internet according to the passage?
A. It makes IP rights harder to protect.
B. It sells songs and films.
C. It does not affect the way we understand IP rights.
D. It prevents the production of artwork.
70. According to paragraph 2, what has “taken the world by storm”?
A. Intellectual property rights.
B. The Internet.
C. Free downloading.
D. The large number of songs, films and books.
71. A possible title for this passage could be ______.
A. A History of IP Rights
B. Ways to Protect Your IP Rights.
C. The Present and the Future Of IP
D. IP Rights and Our Attitudes
