  Around twenty years ago I was living in Seattle and going through hard times. With rich experience and a Master’s degree, to my shame, I could only drive a school bus to make ends meet.

  Later that afternoon, I dropped off a little girl in a quiet suburban neighborhood. As she passed she handed me an earring, saying I should keep it in case somebody claimed it. The earring was painted black and said 'BE HAPPY'. It hit me. I had been putting all of my energies into what was wrong with my life rather than what was right! I decided then and there to make a list of 50 things I was grateful for. At first it was hard, then it got easier. One day I decided to up it to 75.

  My life was completely changed. I know that it was because I changed my attitude to gratitude, which is the key to happiness.

  I spent the next year conducting training workshops all around the Seattle area and then decided to risk everything and go back to Scotland where I had lived previously. I closed my one man business, bought a plane ticket and got a six month visa. One month later I met my wonderful English wife and best friend of 15 years now. We live in a small beautiful cottage, two miles from a paved road in the highlands of Scotland.

  基础写作

  A possible version:

  A survey on private tutoring was carried out among the students in our school last month, which indicates that about 25% of the students have private tutors for a variety of reasons. Most of them choose to have private tutoring at weekends or during holidays. Some of the students believe that private tutors enable them to raise academic achievement. Others think it takes up so much of their free time that they can hardly find enough time for rest and entertainment.

  In my opinion, some students may become too dependent on their tutors, which will weaken their learning abilities.

  读写任务

  概括应该包括以下要点:

  1、作者一直觉得生活不顺利;

  2、女孩给他earring,让他等失主;

  3、他意识到:对生活心存感激才会享受到幸福。

  One possible version:

  Being a school bus driver, the author has been feeling unsatisfied with his life until the girl gave him the “BE HAPPY” earring, which was waiting for its owner. He learned that being grateful will lead to happiness. (37)

  Actually, I experienced great happiness last weekend when my parents came from home to meet me for a dinner. With heavy schoolwork in Senior Three, I have been staying in school for nearly one month, just talking to my parents on the phone occasionally. Last weekend, I almost cried saying I missed them so much and they promised to see me at weekend. When the bell rang, I rushed to the school gate where I knew my parents were waiting for me. We had a big hug and hand in hand walked into a restaurant nearby for dinner. We ate chatting and laughing, greatly relieving my anxiety. I was the luckiest and happiest girl at that time. Thank you! Love you both, Mum and Dad!

  In my opinion, being grateful is absolutely the road leading to happiness. I thank my parents for their bringing me up and driving a long way to see me from home.

  I enjoyed the happiness of staying with them. As to the author, he didn’t sense the fragrance of happiness until he changed his attitude and was grateful to his existing life. So, be grateful before enjoying your happiness!
