(2016·江苏三校联考) Autumn means different things to different people.“It all depends on your personality-away-up (结束)efore a long journey.”

If this is true, perhaps it tells us a little about, for instance,Thomas Hood, the 19th Century English poet.About November,he wrote: the other hand, another English poet John Keats, already sensing he was seriously ill,was inspired by a late September day to pen one of the most famous poems in the English language,To Autumn. He wrote to a friend afterwards that there was something comforting and healing about it.

According to Richard Mabey,Keats has the biological evidence on his side.Autumn is not a time of slowing down, but a time of new beginnings and great movements of creatures. For example, just at the moment that Keats's “gathering swallows” ( in To Autumn)are departing for Africa, millions of creatures are fleeing from the frozen north like Iceland,Greenland and Russia to winter along the east and south coasts of Britain.According to scientists, before falling, the leaves transfer their chlorophyll(叶绿素) and carbohydrates into the woody parts of the tree for safe keeping over winter. What remains is the natural antioxidants (防老剂) in the leaves: the yellow and orange carotenoids (类胡萝卜素)ced for autumn, the bright-red anthocyanin (花青素).High colour is not a signal of deterioration (退化) and decline(排毒的) ability and good health.“Suppose_we_saw_ourselves_burning like_maples_in_a golden_autumn.And_that_we_could_break_up_like_autumn_leaves...dropping their substance like chlorophyll.Wouldn't our attitude towards death be different?”【语篇解读】 1.From Thomas Hood's poem,we may infer that ________.C.he had a negative attitude towards autumn

In the next five years,STEM ( science, technology, engineering and mathematics)jobs are projected to grow twice as quickly as jobs in all other fields according to the US Bureau of Statistics. While other jobs are expected to grow by 10.4 percent,STEM jobs are expected to increase by 21.4 percent.

By this measure, future STEM jobs represent a huge opportunity to today's students. But,in fact,of the 3.8 million ninth graders in the US,only 233,000 end up choosing a STEM degree in college, according to the National Centre for Education Statistics. This means only 6 percent of ninth graders will become STEM graduates. And of these graduates, women will be even more under-represented in most STEM fields.-related fields? Starting at an early age, even as young as kindergarten,we need to encourage and help the next generation leaders to consider taking up science, computing, math and technology. We also need to realize that for young girls to be inspired to take and stick with this educational path and later career field, they will benefit from the support of the people that surround them: parents, teachers, friends and family members.

Sure,it's good to get along with your teacher because it makes that time you spend in the classroom more pleasant. And yes,it's good to get along with your teacher because,in general,it's smart to learn how to relate to the different types of

When I first heard about geocaching (地理寻宝)hought about it,the more it seemed like an interesting idea.I at least wanted to try it once.

Having familiarized myself with how the game works,I set out in search of my first cache. My trip took me through a series of lively hutong (胡同)mall temples, and right into the courtyard of a quiet youth hotel.I spent several

  minutes

  looking

  around,but

  couldn't

find anything.Just before I was about to give up,I spotted a colourful object in the crack of a wall.Could it be the hidden cache?

  At

  that

  moment

  a

  group

  of

  backpackers

arrived. According to the game's rules, people who are not in the game must not be allowed to find out about secret caches. So I pretended to make a phone call while waiting for them to leave. When the coast was clear,I grabbed the object. It was the cache! I opened it and pulled out a crumpled (皱的) sheet of paper with several names and celebratory messages written on it.I added my own and replaced the cache in its hiding placeIt may seem like a simple game, but the idea that there are caches hidden all around us is exciting.Once you're hooked,it's easy to set yourself the goal of finding every single cache in a neighbourhood or even an entire city. The real treasure, however,is not the cache itself, but the places it takes you to.

Hunting for further caches has since introduced me to places which I didn't even know existed. Some are peaceful parks, while others are forgotten historical sites.A few caches have even been in places I passed regularly without giving them

any thought. Now,I feel a much closer connection.
