SAT缩减国际考试场次 以加强安全管理

In an effort to combat cheating, the College Board - the firm behind the SAT college entrance exam - announced new plans to tighten security.

为打击作弊，学术能力测试(SAT)大学入学考试主办方美国大学委员会近日出台了加强安全管理的新计划。

The new measures include canceling the June 2017 international SAT administration and reducing the international testing dates for the SAT to four for the 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 school years, with administrations in October, December, March and May.

新措施包括取消今年6月的SAT国际考试，将2017-2018和2018-2019学年的SAT国际考试日期减至4个，于10月、12月、3月、5月举行考试。

The College Board said reducing the number of tests means less repetition of the questions and will reduce the probability of disclosure.

美国大学委员会表示，减少考试场次意味着减少试题重复，还将降低泄题的可能性。

But critics such as Bob Schaeffer, education director for the National Center for Fair and Open Testing, told the Washington Post that with the instantaneous global communication through social media, there's no real way to prevent the circulation of test questions.

但是像全国公开与公平考试中心的教育总监鲍勃·谢弗这样的批评人士，在接受《华盛顿邮报》采访时表示，由于社交媒体带来的全球即时通信，现在并没有切实的方法来预防试题的流通。

"The only way to stop unethical test-prep companies and individuals from gaining advance knowledge of upcoming test items is to stop reusing test questions," Schaeffer said.

The decision will inevitably inconvenience international students who plan to apply for universities' autumn admission in 2018.

The College Board said they are considering adding places for the tests in May to satisfy students demand. The deadline for registration for the May test is April 7.
