美国第一夫人宣布白宫将于下月恢复对外开放

After pressure from lawmakers, First Lady Melania Trump announced the White House will reopen to the public on March 7, nearly seven weeks after her husband Donald became president.

经过议员施压，美国第一夫人梅兰妮亚·特朗普宣布，白宫将于3月7日重新对公众开放，届时其丈夫唐纳德·特朗普就任总统已近7周。

"I am excited to reopen the White House to the hundreds of thousands of visitors who come each year. The White House is a remarkable and historic site and we are excited to share its beauty and history," she said in a brief statement.

梅兰妮亚·特朗普在一个简短的声明中说道：“我很高兴能向每年成千上万的游客重新开放白宫。白宫是一个非凡的、有历史影响的地点，我们很高兴能分享它的美丽和历史。”

"I am committed to the restoration and preservation of our nation's most recognizable landmark," she said.

White House tours are highly popular with visitors to Washington, a perk arranged by members of Congress for their constituents and foreign embassies for their nationals.

参观白宫深受到访华盛顿的游客欢迎，这是美国国会议员可为选民、外国大使馆可为本国公民安排的一项福利。

The tours had been temporarily suspended, which is typical when there's a new president.

此前白宫参观项目被暂停，这是新总统上任时的惯例。

But the unusually long White House closure since Trump's inauguration on Jan 20 irked some members of Congress, whose constituents were unhappy about the lack of public access.

但自特朗普1月20日就职以来，白宫超长时间的闭门谢客惹恼了一些国会议员，白宫不对公众开放使得他们的选民很不满。
