It's lucky for young athletes all over the world to get their chance at Olympic gold since the International Olympic Committee(IOC)voted unanimously (一致地) to host the Young Olympics.
The firstever Summer Youth Olympics made their debut(首次亮相) in August of 2010. The 12day competition featured 3,200 kids between the ages of 14 and 18. The first Winter Youth Olympics will be held in 2017 and are expected to attract 1,000 athletes. Both Games will take place every four years on a regular basis.
Childhood obesity was listed as one of the reasons for launching the Young Olympics, IOC president Jacques Rogge said he hoped the global competitions would inspire young people to get off the couch and get into shape.
Rogge also admitted that the IOC wished to attract a younger television audience to the formal Olympics. In the past years, interest in the Games among young people has decreased, with the average age of Olympic viewers on the rise.
Rogge agreed that kids today are more interested in such competitions as the X Games, which features such sports as BMX freestyle, surfing on the sea and Moto X Racing.
The Olympics have tried to keep up with the competition by adding BMXcrossing cycling(自行车越野赛), skicross and snowboarding to the Olympic program. And the IOC is hoping to strengthen its reputation among teens by including skateboarding in the 2017 London Olympics.

Almost 20 years ago, a few days before Christmas, Roni Austin's 6yearold daughter, Lauren, went to a Jack in the Box in Carlsbad and ate a hamburger. She got sick, was rushed to a hospital and never came home. Lauren was the first to die in a multistate E._coli outbreak that killed three other children and sickened 700 people.
Like many people, Austin had never heard of E. coli before. At first bewildered, and then angry, Austin soon became the face of foodsafety reform in California and beyond. She cofounded a nonprofit group, Safe Tables Our Priority(STOP), and pushed successfully for legislation (立法) requiring E. coli to be a reportable illness, so outbreaks could be followed and stopped sooner.
Nervous initially to be in the spotlight, she learned not to fear politicians for the beef and fastfood industries. She was in the Oval Office when President Clinton signed the most sweeping changes to federal foodinspection law in the 1990s. She was in Sacramento when a state measure named after her daughter passed, indicating minimum cooking temperatures in restaurants.
Austin, 64, is not sure she has much choice. Every time she thinks she's handed off the baton(指挥棒) to others, though, something brings her back. A phone call from a parent who has lost a child to a foodborne illness. A news story about another outbreak. An event at La Costa Heights Elementary School, where redheaded Lauren was in first grade and where a memorial garden was planted in her honor.
Fixing food safety meant putting her career as a fashion designer on hold and flying 10 times to Washington DC to testify. It meant going to Sacramento to speak a halfdozen times. She's not fond of the legislative process. Asked what she's proudest of in making her way through all that, she said, “That I didn't give up.”

A. the great changes in food inspection
B. Austin's efforts to achieve food safety

73.It can be inferred from Paragraph 4 that________.
A. food safety problems are very serious
B. Roni Austin was forced to do the job
C. more people are concerned about food safety

You don't
seem to be quite yourself today.“今天,你好像身体不舒服”。

view“看法,观点”;request“请求”;intention“意愿”;ambition“野心,雄心”。
由第二段第三句话“The first Winter Youth Olympics will be held in 2017 and are expected to attract 1,000 athletes.”
由最后一段最后一句话“And the IOC is hoping to strengthen its reputation among teens by including skateboarding in the 2017 London Olympics.”
由第一段第三句话“You'll hear the various stories of the building's construction”可知,你会听到该大楼的建设的各种版本的故事。
由“Tour and Pricing Options”下的第二句话“Our pricing is changing...”

由倒数第二段最后一句话“All volunteers will be expected to attend training events...”
由最后一幅图第一句话“...which reflects the island's geological history.”

Our Voluntary Activity
December 5 was memorable because it was Volunteer Day and we did some meaningful work. After class, we went to a nearby bus station with some buckets and our volunteer logo. Upon arrival, we started to clean the buses immediately. Some were carrying water. Some were wiping the floor of the buses. Some were cleaning the windows. After that, we tried to lead the passengers to queue for getting on the buses. Some even helped the old onto the bus. Before leaving, we took some photos to record our voluntary activity holding a flag with our logo. Which, I think, is the best explanation of our activity: try to give others a hand as much as possible.
