A British therapist was forced to give up her job and home to live in a shed because she's allergic to WiFi.

Rachel Hinks claims to suffer from electromagnetic hypersensitivity. To escape the "harmful" signals released from nearby internet hubs and phone masts, the 43-year-old was forced to move into a shack at the bottom of a pal's garden.

Every day she drives back to home so she can feed the cat and take her outside to give her company, re-exposing herself to the signals that make her poorly.

"At first I had mild symptoms, I noticed when I switched to a cordless phone my ear would burn, and when I tried to use my laptop using WiFi I became very fatigued so I resorted back to using a wired up connection," Hinks said.

"Then in December 2015 I became suddenly very unwell - violent shaking, severe head pains, burning rashes - I couldn't sleep more than a few hours at a time and felt like I was in a meltdown."

But electromagnetic hypersensitivity is not currently a recognized diagnosis and the World Health Organisation says there is "no scientific basis" to link Hinks' symptoms to the emissions from electromagnetic fields.
