My father and I disagreed about curfew(晚间必须在家的时间). He'd say I was to be in by 9:30 on weekdays, and 11:00 on weekends, no exceptions without my first asking. I told him it made me __1__ like a junior high kid. He explained that while a curfew __2__ sound like a restriction, it's really about people looking out for one another.
The very next Friday after that pretty heated __3__, my dad and I had tickets to see our town's professional football game. On that day he was __4__ to a nearby city to meet with some major clients and __5__ me that his getting home and our leaving for the game would be tight.
To make sure we could __6__ off the moment he walked in, I got everything prepared. When a half hour had passed from the time he said he'd be home, I understood that he was a little __7__. But then, nearly a whole hour passed. I was getting __8__. We were going to miss the kickoff! And why hadn't he __9__ me and let me know he was going to be really late? As I anxiously __10__ the floor, another half hour passed. That's when I got really angry. How inconsiderate of my father! Now we were going to __11__ the whole game! When yet another half hour passed, my anger turned to __12__. What if something terrible had happened to my dad, like he had a heart attack or had been in an accident, or something? I began to really __13__. I'd already called his cellphone about ten times, but no __14__.
I was beside myself, assuming the worst had happened.
Finally, the phone rang, and my dad said __15__,“Son, I'm so sorry about the game, but…there was a terrible accident…on the freeway coming home, and I __16__ to help…and ended up going to the hospital. I __17__ my cellphone in the car, so I couldn't call until now.”
I was so relieved to hear from my father and to __18__ that he was safe that I actually cried. That was __19__ I got the importance of a curfew: Checking in! It's about knowing that someone you love is __20__. It was one more proof of my father's loving me as much as he does.

Long long ago, a circle missed one piece of its own. The circle wanted to be whole, so it went around looking for its __21__ piece. It found lots of different pieces, but __25__ of them fitted. So it left them all by the side of the road and __26__ searching. Then one day the circle found a piece that fitted __27__. It incorporated the missing piece into itself and began to roll. __28__ it was a perfect circle, it could roll very fast, __29__ fast to notice the flowers or talk to the worms.
.B 从下文的to a nearby city to meet with some major clients可知,“我”父亲开车(drive)去了附近的城镇。下文有提示on the freeway coming home。
.A 根据上文的“When a half hour had passed from the time he said he'd be home…”
.C 根据下文的“…let me know he was going to be really late?”
.C 根据上文的“We were going to miss the kickoff!”
下文的“What if something terrible had happened to my dad, like he had a heart attack or had been in an accident,or something?”

.C 此处与后文的“It enjoyed the sunshine.”
.B 此处与下文中的talk to the worms呼应,应选B,表示和小虫聊天。
.D 根据下文“So it left them all by the side of the road…”
.B 这里用too…to…
.A 此空与前面的not呼应,not…but…
