　　Show Ourselves, Improve Ourselves

　　In order to make us enthusiastic about learning English and develop our knowledge, our school organized some colorful English activities last week. During the week, we learned English songs and went to English Comer, where students communicated with each other about the subjects they were interested in. Besides, we attended an English lecture delivered by a foreign expert. Everyone thought it a good chance to improve our listening. On Friday, an English composition contest was held to encourage us to show our talents for writing.

　　All of the students took active part in these activities, through which we increased our knowledge and gained the confidence in learning English. We all think the activities benefit us greatly in many ways.

　　Recently, we have had a discussion on how to make learning English relaxing and fun. Most students believe that there are many ways to do so. First of all, we can have more interactive activities in class, such as discussions, interviews, story-telling and role-play. In this way, we can have more fun leaning English. Secondly, we can take part in more out-of-class activities like English speech contests and English evenings. Through these activities we can improve our English skills in an easy and relaxing way. Thirdly, we need to find more opportunities to communicate in English with people, whether they are English teachers or classmates, foreigners or Chinese, because using English is the best way to learn.

　　These ideas sound reasonable and practical. From my experience, there are many other interesting and relaxing ways. For example, we can listen to English songs and watch English movies. We can also watch English programs on TV or join English dubs or make English pen-friends on the Internet.

　　All in all, what we need is more free time and more space.

　　Recently the fact that some companies extract bile from living bears is closely cared about. So my class has a heated discussion on it.

　　Some students are in favour of the idea. They think that we can make use of the bile that is taken from the bears to make medicine, curing the illness. Besides, it is very expensive, so we encourage many people to raise bears to become rich.

　　Others are against the idea. In their opinion, we can use the man-made bile which has the same effects as that from the living bears to make medicine. Extracting bile from living bears is cruel and immoral, bringing great pain to the bears even to death.

　　Personally, I strongly object to extracting bile from the bears. It seriously breaks the harmonious relationship between man and the animals. We should take immediate action to protect the bears from being hurt.
