体坛英语资讯：Cuban hurdler Dayron Robles desires to meet U.S. rival Oliver

Cuban hurdler Dayron Robles expressed here on Wednesday his desire to face U.S. rival David Oliver after his return to competition next summer.

"I guess we can heat the track next season," said the Beijing 2008 Olympic champion.

Robles, 24, holds the world record for the 110 meter hurdles, but he cancelled his European tour last month due to discomfort in his legs.

Robles crashed on Feb. 5 against a hurdle during the 60-meter race in Stuttgart, Germany, while Oliver won the contest with a time of 7.37 seconds, the best of the current winter season.

Three days later, after winning the competition in Lievin, France, with a poor mark of 7.57 seconds, Robles decided to abandon the tour.

He said that the clash in Stuttgart caused a "little problem in his ankle, back and buttocks," which caused him muscular discomfort and this complicated the tour.

"I had a little accident, something that no athlete can imagine to be free of. I was in great shape and, well, I became very upset," he said.

"We could not achieve our goal, but we are working for the upcoming competitions," he added.

Robles is scheduled to run in August at the World Athletics Championships in Daegu, South Korea, and in October at the Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico.

Concerning Oliver, Robles said he "is in a great physical conditions."

Oliver, Olympic bronze medallist, has remained unbeaten in 15 races during the 2010 outdoor season. In July he set the American record of 12.89 seconds, just 0.02 seconds shy of the world record.
