体坛英语资讯：Uruguay joyful in welcoming World Cup national team

 The Uruguayan national soccer team left on Tuesday the suburbs of Montevideo, aboard a bus, to participate in a caravan to celebrate its fourth place achieved at the World Cup of South Africa 2010.

The caravan began at the headquarters of the national team, and continued to Montevideo, where the fans welcomed the players with claps and joy.

The bus had the label "Orgullo Celeste (Sky Blue Pride)" and it crossed 22 kilometers by the riverside of La Plata River to arrive the Legislative Palace, where they will receive an official homage.

Thousands of people went to the streets since midday to welcome the players and thank them for the achievement.

During the ceremony at the Parliament, President Jose Mujica gave each one of the players and coach Oscar Tabarez a replica of the national shield of bronze, covered with gold, with their names and thanking words.

The national team arrived in Uruguay on Monday night, and they were welcomed by Mujica.

This has been the best performance of the national team since the World Cup of Mexico 1970.

Uruguay achieved the fourth place of South Africa 2010, when losing 2-3 against Germany.
