体坛英语资讯：Maradona can decide to stay or leave by himself

 Argentina FA president Julio Grondona said on Wednesday that Diego Maradona is the one to decide if he continues as Argentina national team head coach.

Argentina were eliminated from the World Cup on Saturday when they crashed 4-0 against Germany.

Most pundits predicted Maradona's lack of coaching experience would count against the South Americans at the World Cup but Argentina impressed on their way to the quarterfinals, where they were undone by a rampant Germany team who could yet lift the trophy.

Grondona said: "Maradona is the only person in the country who can do whatever he wants. He still has a contract with us, so it's up to him."

His first assistant Alejandro Mancuso said: "Knowing Diego as I do, I don't think he will step down. We can't throw out all the good things we've done up to now. We've grown up a lot as a group. We know the players and how each of them reacts to a negative situation. If he decides to stay, we have to start working right away."

Reports in Argentina suggest Maradona could be offered a role with former club Napoli.
