The 21-year-old right-hander worked seven innings in the Nationals' victory over the Pirates. He went to a three-ball count three times.

His fastballs reached 100 mph, and the Pirates found his nasty curves nearly impossible to hit.

This is his first start for the Nationals, and he set the franchise record for most strikeouts in a game.
