体坛英语资讯：Mexican Altas signs Argentine goalkeeper Barbosa

 Soccer club Atlas from western Mexico city Guadalajara has reached agreement to sign Argentine goalkeeper Mariano Barbosa, Atlas president, Carlos Martin, told media on Tuesday. "Confirmation of the negotiation with Estudiantes has reached us and at lease we can solve it," Martin said. "Only one document is missing, but the agreement is there. We feel that he will bring us a lot, most of all that he is a young goalkeeper," he added.

Barbosa, 25, spent last season at Argentine soccer giant River Plate. Atlas, coached by Argentina's Ricardo Antonio La Volpe, had also been negotiating with another Argentine goalkeeper, Gaston Sessa.

The club, one of three in Guadalajara, is renewing its squad in a bid to end repeated relegation threat, ahead of the 2009 Opening Tournament. The team has only ever won one trophy, the league championship of 1950-1951.
