MIAMI - Brandon Roy of the Portland Trail Blazers sparked a fourth-quarter rally to beat the Miami Heat 98-91 on Friday and condemn them to their 12th consecutive defeat.
Roy scored 16 of his 24 points in the final period as the Trail Blazers withstood a 37-point performance from the Heat's Dwyane Wade.
Wade scored a red-hot 20 points in the third quarter as Miami closed out the period with a 14-0 run to take a 76-69 lead.
But Roy sparked the Trail Blazers' comeback, scoring seven consecutive points in a 14-0 Portland run that gave them a 88-78 advantage with five minutes remaining.
Jason Williams' three-pointer pulled Miami within 90-88 with two minutes to play before Travis Outlaw's jumper and James Jones's three-pointer put Portland ahead 95-88 with 37 seconds left.
Outlaw finished with 18 points and eight rebounds.
Shaquille O'Neal aided Miami's bid to snap the team's third-longest streak with 20 points and 11 rebounds.
* The Sacramento Kings surprised the Detroit Pistons with a 100-93 road win, with 24 points from Kevin Martin and 18 from Ron Artest. Chauncey Billups had 28 points and 10 assists and Richard Hamilton scored 24 points for the Pistons.
* Ray Allen had 23 points and Paul Pierce 22 in the Boston Celtics' 116-89 romp over the Philadelphia 76ers.
* Antawn Jamison scored 32 points and Caron Butler had 22 when the Washington Wizards ended the New York Knicks' three-game winning streak with a 111-98 home win. Butler also made four consecutive free throws to stretch his league-leading total to 54 in a row.
* Pau Gasol led the Memphis Grizzlies to a 124-100 home win over the Seattle Super Sonics, scoring 24 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. The loss was the ninth consecutive for Seattle.
Mike Miller added 25 points and Bobby Jones contributed 20 points and 13 rebounds for Memphis, which ended a five-game losing streak.
* Chris Bosh's 35 points powered the Toronto Raptors to an 89-78 home win over the Atlanta Hawks.
* David West had 28 points and Chris Paul added 14 points and 13 assists in the New Orleans Hornets' fourth win in a row, a 112-84 romp over the Charlotte Bobcats.
