21世纪初期，法瑞尔·威廉姆斯和他的制作组合海王星便开始为各类艺人制作音乐。2001年他就和好友Shae Haley建立起了NERD音乐乐队。2003年发行首张专辑《The Neptunes Present:Clones》获全美流行专辑榜冠军。

2014年3月3日个人第二张录音室专辑《G I R L》发行，其中收录了个人首支冠军单曲《Happy》，获得了2014年奥斯卡最佳原创歌曲奖提名。2015年凭借《Happy》获得第57届格莱美最佳流行艺人奖项。
