BEIJING, May 3 (Xinhuanet)-- Mariah Carey married Nick Cannon on Wednesday at Carey's home in the Bahamas according to media reports, but neither Carey's publicist nor Cannon's manager made comments. Latina.com was the first to report the marriage. New York Post also reported the pair wed and E! Online quoted a relative of Cannon's as saying that he called his family and confirmed the news.

The pair met when Cannon directed a video for Carey's recent single "Bye, Bye," and word that the two were seeing each other first surfaced in the last few weeks. Carey wore a humongous, gleaming ring on her left hand at the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of her movie, "Tennessee" last Saturday.

Carey, 38, recently released the No. 1 single "Touch My Body" off her album "E=MC2," which also debuted on record charts as the best-selling album in mid-April. She has enjoyed tremendous success as a recording artist starting in 1990 with her self-titled debut album.

Canno, 27, has acted on television and in films such as 2002's "Drumline" and "Shall We Dance?" and he made his singing debut with a self-titled album in 2003 and followed up in 2006 with "Stages."

If the pair did indeed wed, it would be a whirlwind romance.

This would be Cannon's first marriage but Carey's second. She famously wed top music executive Tommy Mottola in an extravagant wedding in 1993. They had a bitter divorce in 1998.
