Charlotte Church is now the proud mother of a baby girl named Ruby Megan Henson after giving birth at home with boyfriend Gavin Henson by her side.

Charlotte was reportedly first keen on the name Ava, but is said to have reconsidered after fellow singer Myleene Klass chose the name for her baby girl.

Charlotte gave birth to her baby accompanied by rugby player boyfriend Gavin Henson at their home in the Vale of Glamorgan, south Wales, on Thursday night, according to the 21-year-old's official website www.charlottechurch.com.

The site's webmaster wrote today: "I've just been chatting to Charlotte this morning and she told me that she and Gavin have chosen the name Ruby for their baby daughter.

"Ruby was born at 10.35pm last Thursday and weighed in at 6 pounds 12 ounces, exactly the same weight that Charlotte was when she was born.

"Charlotte said that they have spent the weekend receiving family and friends and everything is fine with both her and Ruby."

The 21-year-old singer and TV presenter bought a birthing pool for the delivery, which was attended by two midwives.

Charlotte - once known as the Voice of an Angel - had been determined to give birth at home in her new farmhouse in St Brides Major, Glamorgan, which she moved into last month.

She and boyfriend Gavin Henson, 25, wept tears of joy at the the baby's arrival, according to reports.

The rugby player was present for the labour - which happened during as Wales vs Japan game - only because he had been left out of the national squad. A source said: 'Maybe it was a blessing Gavin wasn't picked for Wales in the World Cup.'

"I think they will make good parents and this will be good for Charlotte. She is more mature now and her partying days are in the past."

Charlotte announced the birth via a message posted on her internet site, www.charlottechurch.com.

The webmaster wrote: "Gavin has informed us that Charlotte gave birth to a beautiful baby girl at home on Thursday night.

"Gavin was there at the birth. He has told us that mother and baby are doing just fine.

"I'm sure everyone will agree that this is fantastic news and will want to join us at CC.com in wishing them our very best."
