国际劳动妇女节 International Womens Day

InternationalWomen's Day, originally called International Working Women's Day, is marked onMarch 8 every year, which is a holiday for women in the whole world. Different nationsor regions have different celebrations towards this holiday, but their purposeis common, namely appreciating for women's economic, political and socialachievements. China started to commemorate this day since 1922, and the firstmass commemoration activity was held in Guangzhou in 1924. In December 1949,the Central People's Government Administration Council formally announced forthe Women's Day on March 8. With Opening up and progress of society, women are playingan increasingly important role in all fields. We can see their great achievementseverywhere. Therefore, this is a day to protect the rights and interests ofwomen as well as praise them outstanding contributions.

每年的3月8日定为国际妇女节，也称国际劳动妇女节，这是一个全世界女性的共同节日。不同的国家和地区有不同的庆祝方式，但目标都是一样的，都是为了嘉奖女性对经济、政治和社会所作出的贡献。我国于1922年开始纪念"三八"节。中国妇女第一次群众性的纪念"三八"节活动是1924年在广州举行的。1949年12月，中央人民政府政务院规定每年的3月8日为妇女节。随着社会的开放和进步，女性在各个领域都发挥着越来越重要的作用，我们随处可见女性的巨大成就。因此，这不仅是一个保护妇女权益的节日，也是一个表扬女性突出贡献的节日。
