　　[特征]

　　- She had already gone when I arrived. 我到的时候，她已经走了。

　　1、already通常和现在完成时连用，而不和一般过去时连用。

　　(×)Next month she's going back to Shanghai. She booked the tickets already.

　　(√)Next month she's going back to Shanghai. She has booked the tictets already.

　　下月她即将返回上海。她已经订了票。

　　2、辨析already，still和yet

　　一定要区分好它们的意思和用法，这三个词经常同时出现在考试题中。already是“已经”的意思，一般用于肯定句，常与完成时连用;still是“仍然，还是”，强调动作在进行中，主要用于肯定句中; yet是“已经，还”，一般用于否定句和疑问句，常位于句末。

　　- She is still in bed at 10 o'clock. 十点她还在睡觉。

　　- They haven't been there yet. 他们还没到那儿。

　　3、辨析already和all ready

　　already是副词，意思是“已经”;all ready是词组，意思是“都准备好了”。

　　- I've already finished. 我已经干完了。

　　- We are all ready. 我们都准备好了。

　　altogether adv. ①完全地 ②总而言之

　　- This word may be deleted altogether. 这个词完全可以删去。

　　- Altogether our achievements are very great. 总的说来，我们的成绩是很大的。

　　altogether的意思是“完全，总而言之”;all together是词组，意思是“在一起，全部”。

　　- We are eight altogether. 我们总共八个人。

　　- Don't speak all together. 大家别一起说。

　　amaze vt. 使吃惊，使惊奇

　　[特征]

　　注意amaze是个及物动词，后面可直接加宾语。

　　- His rapid progress in English amazed the teacher.

　　他在英语方面的快速进步使老师大为惊讶。

　　1、重要词组

　　be amazed at sth. 对某事感到吃惊

　　- They were amazed at the bad news. 他们对这个坏消息感到吃惊。

　　be amazed to hear 听到……感到吃惊

　　- They were amazed to hear the bad news. 他们听到这坏消息感到很吃惊。

　　2、辨析amaze，astonish和surprise

　　amaze强调“使惊异、困惑”，有时还有“惊叹、佩服”的意思，语气很强;astonish表示“使某人大吃一惊，几乎无法使人相信”，但没有“惊叹”的意思，surprise语气最弱，只表示“出乎意料的惊异”。

　　ambitious adj. 有雄心的;野心勃勃的
