The famous Great Canal is the longest and earliest manual-canal in the world. It located in China and linking Beijing and Hangzhou, and the feeder service is expected to undercut land service prices. The service also offers a degree of convenience since cargo will no longer have to be cleared by customs in different locations.

举世闻名的京杭大运河，是世界上开凿最早、最长的一条人工河道。 坐落于中国连接北京和杭州。为发展南北交通，沟通南北之间经济、文化等方面的联系作出了巨大的贡献。

The Great Canal is also called the Jinghang Canal, and the Yunhe River for short. It is a great water conservancy project in ancient times. It starts north in Beijing and ends south in Hangzhou City with a total length of 1,794 kilometers, connecting the Haihe River, Yellow River, Huaihe River, Yangtze River, Qiantangjiang River, in total five river systems, ranking the longest canal in the world.

大运河又叫京杭大运河。它是远古时期一项伟大的水力管理工程。京杭大运河全长1794千米，是世界上最长的一条人工运河，是苏伊士运河的16倍，巴拿马运河的33倍，纵贯南北，是我国重要的一条南北水上干线。它北起北京，南至杭州，经过北京、天津、河北、山东、江苏、浙江六省市，沟通了海河、黄河、淮河、长江、钱塘江五大水系。在历史上，不仅便利了南北大量物资的运输交换，也有助于我国的政治、经济和文化的发展。由于年久失修，大运河的运输能力没有得到完全发挥。目前，京杭运河的通航里程为1442千米，其中全年通航里程为877千米，主要分布在黄河以南的山东、江苏和浙江三省。

The whole course of the Great Canal covers seven sections: the one from the city zone of Beijing to Tongxian County is called the Tonghui River, from Tongxian County to Tianjin called the North Canal, from Tianjin to Linqing called the South Canal, from Linqing to Tairzhuang called the Lu Canal, from Tairzhuang to Huaiyin called the Central Canal, from Huaiyin to Yangzhou called the Inner Canal (also called Gangou, which is the earliest canal in China), and across the Yangtze River the one from Zhenjiang to Hangzhou called the Jiangnan Canal.

京杭大运河是由人工河道和部分河流、湖泊共同组成的，全程可分为七段：

（1）通惠河：北京市区至通县，连接温榆河、昆明湖、白河，并加以疏通而成；

（2）北运河：通县至天津市，通县至天津市，利用潮白河的下游挖成；

（3）南运河：天津至临清，利用卫河的下游挖成；

（4）鲁运河：临清至台儿庄，利用汶水、泗水的水源，沿途经东平湖、南阳湖、昭阳湖、微山湖等天然湖泊；

（5）中运河：台儿庄至清江；

（6）里运河：清江至扬州，入长江；

（7）江南运河：镇江至杭州。
