　　The computer is a wonderful machine. It is probably the most important invention in man s history. Although the first modern computer was not built until 1946, the history of computers can be traced back to the 17 th century. With each and every passing year scientists are coming up with computers that are faster, smaller, cheaper and more powerful.

　　Computers are now being used almost everywhere, whether in government agencies or in business offices, in schools or at homes. They have become pervasive in our lives. A wholly computerized society is beginning to become more of a reality than just mere science fiction.

　　Computers play an increasingly important role in our lives. Thanks to computers, our lives are more comfortable, more convenient and more enjoyable. In fact, we are now so dependent on computers that we can not imagine how we could go on living without them. Realize it or not, in this Computer Age computers have already revolutionized our lives.
