To Become a Specialist or a Generalist? When it comes to whether a student should become a specialist or a generalist, there is no complete agreement among people. Some people think that it is best for college students to focus on feveloping skills in one field to become a specialist. However, others maintain that a versatile generalist is more welcimed in the competitive job market. Those people who hold the former opinion believe that it is impossible to demand college students to become all all-round generalist within four years. In addition, with increasing elaboration of social division, the specialists are in more urgent need. However, stills others adbocate the different opinion. They hold that college students should stretch themselves to as many fields as possible to adapt the increasingly fierce competition. Besides, generalists are highly demanded in the information age. Personally, I am in favor of the former opinion. I dont think it is advisable that college students equally spend their time and energy on several fields. Besides, the development of high-tech needs specialists. Therefore, I think to be a specialist is the right choice for most student. 4.
