　　我所谓准确大略相当于严复的信。严夫子说：求其信而大难矣。我说:信则万事毕矣。准确有很多方面的含义。首先是意义的准确，这似乎无庸赘言。但是，诗与散文不同，它的内容与形式是有机地统一的，换句话说，即诗的意义至少部分是体现在形式之中的。所以，翻译散文可以得意而忘言，译诗则不可以。

　　I am a translation practicer,not a pure theorist.Therefore,what I am intending to put forward here is not any abstract theory that seems to be universally true,but a summary of my years of translation experience,especially that of poetry transaltion,in the from of Dos and Donts,as personal theory or principle applied perhaps only to me myself.

　　AccuracyI have mentioned roughly equals to faithfulnessadvocated by Yan Fu.Master Yan once said,Faithfulness is hard enough to attain,while,to me,faithfulness is everything.Accuracy has more than one.implications.First of all,its needless to say that it implies the exactness of meaning.Yet,poetry is different from prose in that the content and form of poetry are organically integrated.In other words,the meaning of poetry is partly conveyed through its original form at least.Therefore,we may focus on the meaning ignoring the exact words used when translating prose,but it is not the case when translating poems.
