　　Agrowingnumberofscientistsinsistthatanswerstotheworldsproblemswillnotcomefromaflahierarray（大量）ofelectronicsandmachines.Instead,astheyseeit,solutionsmustevolvefromabetterunderstandingofthehumansthatdrivethesystemandfromafullerappreciationofthelimitsandpotentialoftheearthsresources.

　　Whatthismeansisanincreasedemphasisonthelifeandearthsciences,onsociology,psychology,economicsandevenphilosophy.

　　Moreandmoreofthebestmindsinscience,particularlyyoungresearchers,arebeingdrawnintothesedevelopingfields.

　　Allthisisnottosaythattechnologicalcreativitywillnotplayacriticalroleinsolvingenergyandfoodshortages,oranswerstoenvironmentaldifficultieswillnotcomefromfurtheradvancesinthesametechnologiesthatmayhavehelpedcausetheproblems.

　　Wheretherealchallengelies,intheviewofthenewtypeofscientists,isinfindingwaystoproducegoodstomeettheworldsneeds,usinglessoftherawmaterialsthatarebecomingscarce.
