语法与惯用法知识点：The cat hit my face对还是错？

　　最近，一位叫小林的广州朋友给我写信，请我回答她提出的若干英语问题。她提的问题很好，很有代表性，看得出她是一位认真好学的英语老师。由于最近工作太忙，今天才抽出时间来回复她。先回答第一个问题，后面的问题，我将尽快在一两天内回答完毕。

　　【问】The cat hit my face. 这句话老外听不懂，要用The cat hit me on my face. 一般涉及部位的要用hit sb on +身体部位。kiss是不是也是这种用法呢，但是我在权威词典里有看过kiss her cheek. 也有kiss her on the cheek的用法。这种句子是不是体现了外国人的英文思维呢?

　　【答】对这个问题，我的理解是：The cat hit my face. 那只猫撞在了我的脸上。我们知道，hit除了打，击，敲的意思外，还有撞上，碰撞之意。前者往往指有意的打，击，而后者则强调无意的碰撞。单就这个句子而言，猫的动作显然是后者。所以，我认为这个句子没有错误。

　　英美人习惯上把一些动词用于此种固定结构：动词+sb.+介词+the+某一部位。在他们看来，动作的接受主体应该先是人，而部位仅是人体的一部分。所以应该先说人，后说部位。

　　比较常见的这类动词有take, catch, hold, seize, pull, hit, cut, strike, pat, lead等;常用的介词有in, on, by等。

　　一般说来表示抓住、领着某一部位(如arm, hand)，介词用by;表示击中、拍打较硬且突出的部位(如back, head)介词用on;而相对较软、陷入的部位(如stomach, face)介词用in。例如：

　　The woman hit the man in the face and the man struck her on the back.

　　那个女的打了男的的脸。那个男的打了她的背。

　　The boss pulled the little boy by the hair and took him to the office.

　　老板拽着男孩的头发，把他带到了办公室。

　　The police seized the thief by the arm and controlled him.

　　警察抓住了小偷的胳膊，把他制服了。

　　My teacher often pats me on the shoulder and encourages me to work hard.

　　老师经常拍着我的肩膀鼓励我努力学习。

　　【常见搭配】

　　take sb. by the arm 抓住某人的手臂 hit sb. on the head 打某人的头

　　take sb. by the hand 抓住某人的手 hit sb. on the chin 打某人的下巴

　　take sb. by the throat 扼住某人的咽喉 pull sb. by the hand 拉某人的手

　　pat sb. on the shoulder 拍某人的肩 shake sb. by the hand 握某人的手

　　strike sb. in the face 打某人的脸 seize sb. by the sleeve 抓住某人的袖口

　　lead sb. by the hand 拉着某人的手领路 cut sb. in the hand 割了某人的手

　　【特别提示】

　　随着社会的进步，语言也在向着简洁的方向发展。在现代英语中，以下说法也是正确的：

　　hit / strike ones face = hit / strike sb. in the face 击中某人的面部

　　pat ones shoulder = pat sb. on the shoulder 拍某人的肩膀

　　catch / seize / take ones arm = catch sb. by the arm 抓住某人的胳膊

　　lead ones hand=lead sb. by the hand 领着某人的手

　　最后，再回到网友这个问题：The cat hit my face. 这句话即使猫有意打、击，后面的宾语可以直接是 my face。

　　关于 kiss her cheek 和 kiss her on the cheek，两种说法都正确。此外，The cat hit me on my face. 这个句子本身有问题：要么说 hit my face，要么说 hit me in the face，在身体部位前应加 the，而不是物主代词。
