Although visitors initiallymay find touring the city bysubway to be ______, theyare pleased to discover thatsubways are an inexpensiveand ______ way to getaround.
A.wasteful generous
B. daunting efficient
C. extravagant prohibitive
D. convenient solitary
E. enjoyable easy
Like martinet, Norman______ his subordinates to______ rigidly to the rules.
disciplined...adapt
constrained...adhere
coaxed...refer
accustomed...object
coerced...demur
在《韦氏大学词典》中,martinet的解释为:a strict disci-plinarian;a person whostressed a rigid adherence tothe details of forms and meth-ods.
