很多考生的SAT阅读词汇障碍主要来源于以下三个方面:
第一、模棱两可,张冠李戴
个人认为记单词的过程可以分成四个阶段:背忘混会。第一个背词的阶段是最让人痛苦的,第二个忘词阶段是最令人沮丧的,而第三个混词阶段才是最打击自信、最可怕的。因为如果你压根儿就没见过某个词,你或许还会通过上下文进行仔细地推断;但如果你把某个词的意思和另一个词记混了,你可能就会根据自己记混的意思直接推断所在句或所在选项的意思,从而造成对文章或选项的误解。
第二、浅尝辄止,不求甚解
由于很多同学把精力和时间都放在快速增加词汇量上,以至于对很多单词的了解较浅,通常只熟悉某个单词的某个意思。从而造成有些同学用自己所知某个词的固定意思来推理具体语境下的整句话的意思,最终导致对文章的误解或曲解。
第三、望文生义,生搬硬套
很多同学在背单词的过程中会发现并掌握一些英语构词的基本规律,比如有些动词后面加-ing形式就构成了其相应的形容词形式,并且意思不会产生大的变化。例如:read- readable 。
然而,有些动词后面加上-ing形式变成形容词之后,意思会发生较大的变化。例如:动词agree的常用意是同意、赞成,而形容词agreeable的意思却是令人愉悦的。了解到这一点,在这一句就不会产生误解了:It was interesting to be in the quiet old town once more, and it was not disagreeable to be here and there suddenly recognized and stared after.
