Nowadays, people are facing more and more work-related stress. Analyze the possible causes of this phenomenon and give suggestions as to how to reduce the stress.
It is generally realized that white-collar workers as well as blue-collars are suffering from increasing stress in their work. The cumulating stress is disastrous in that it reduces work efficiency and does harm to ones mental and physical health. The issue, though having caught much attention from sociologists, defies any solution unless its causes are thoroughly investigated.
Apparently, the ever-growing stress comes from the fierce competition in the world of work. In my country, where the market economy has been established, people have to face an unimaginable amount of competiton. Thus many employees live and work in a constant anxiety, worried that they may be replaced by those who are better qualified if they lose in the competition.
The stress may be intensified by the nature of the specific job one does. For example, the money-related work, where any slip can result in a great financial loss for the related staff member as well as for the organization he serves, demands extraordinary precision and care. Thus, a cashier has to be always highly alert against any slight negligence in his work. The long-term, high-level strain naturally adds to the stress resulting from the competition in work.
To reduce the stress, one is advised to learn to relax himself in his leisure time. Only when he realizes that entertainment and relaxation contribute to his refreshment, which is a necessary condition for his high efficiency and ultimate success in the competition, will he be able to rid himself of the stress. In addition, recreational activities regularly organized for employees by the company may help solve the problem. The engagement of workers in sports, parties and tours can be an effective means of relieving them of the stress.
