TAIPEI, April 26 (Xinhua) -- A strong earthquake measuring 6.6 on the Richter scale struck east Taiwan Monday, according to the island's seismological agency。

The quake struck at 10:59 a.m. Monday morning and it was felt in most parts of the island。

The epicenter was monitored at 22.52 degrees north latitude and 123.33 degrees east longitude, which was about 190 km to the northeast of the Lanyu Island。
