联合国宣布2016年为“国际豆类年”

10日联合国在意大利罗马召开的联合国粮食与农业组织（FAO）大会上正式宣布2016年为国际豆类年。

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) on Tuesday launched the International Year of Pulses (IYP) in a bid to heighten public awareness of the nutritional benefits of pulse crops, UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric told reporters here Tuesday.

11月10日，联合国发言人斯蒂芬•杜加里克对媒体表示，联合国粮食与农业组织（FAO）为了提高公众对豆科作物营养的认识，推出了“国际豆类年。

联合国将2016年定为“国际豆类年（International Year of Pulses，IYP），以“提供丰富营养，促进可持续发展为口号。“豆类（pulses）在世界粮食计划署（World Food Programme）粮食援助战略中的“食品篮（food basket）中占有一席之地。

Pulse这个词，可能不少人看到的第一反应是“脉搏的意思，在这里指的是豆科植物（leguminous plants）所产果实的总称。

豆类作物，如扁豆、蚕豆、豌豆、鹰嘴豆（lentils, beans, peas and chickpeas）富含蛋白质、纤维、各种维生素和氨基酸，并且是一种高产的（high yielding）作物。豆类可以帮助提高人类健康和幸福水平，还能带来更大的社会效益（social benefits）。豆类还经常用于体重控制和减重项目。

联合国秘书长潘基文表示，豆类在解决饥饿、食品安全、营养不良等方面（address hunger, food security, malnutrition）有很大的作用。同时，设立国际豆类年对实现联合国可持续发展目标（Sustainable Development Goals，SDG）有很大的作用。
