The 84-year-old Rupert Murdoch is preparing to stepdown as chief executive of 21st Century Fox. Hisson James Murdoch will take over the role, while hisother son Lachlan Murdoch will become executiveco-chairman.

Rupert Murdoch will continue to be the executive chairman of Fox.

A Fox spokesperson said that the matter of succession is on the board of director's agenda atits next regularly scheduled meeting.
