A: I was walking across the road yesterday when I saw a hideously deformed dog. I really felt sorry for the thing.
B: It is frightful to think that such an animal has to keep on living.
A: Not to mention how unsightly it looked. It only had three legs.
B: I agree. Unpleasant things like that should now be in the public view.

A: 昨天过马路的时候我在路上碰到了一条长得奇形怪状的狗。我真觉得它可怜。
B: 一想到那样的一只狗还要继续活着真是让人不寒而栗。
A: 先不说它长得有多难看！它还只有三条腿。
B: 没错。那种令人惨不忍睹的东西不该让大家看到。

【语言点精讲】

hideously: 极丑地；可怕地。
deformed: 畸形的，可憎的。
frightful: 恐怖的，令人战栗的。
not to mention: 更别提，除……之外（还）。
unsightly: 不悦目的，难看的。
unpleasant: 讨厌的，令人不愉快的。
