He always talks big.

I know. He is so arrogant.

(我知道。他很傲慢。)

“吹牛”、 “夸张”可以用talk big来表示。

He thinks his company will be the next Microsoft.

(他认为他的公司将成为下一个微软。)

He talks big.

(他在说大话。)

He’s a big talker.

He is always talking big.

He brags all the time.

(他总是夸夸其谈。)

brag “夸口”、 “吹牛皮”。

He’s got a big ego.

ego “ 自我”、 “ 自尊心”、 “ 自大”。

你别相信他。

He told me that he’s in charge of the project.

(他告诉我他主管这个项目。)

Don’t you believe him.

(你别相信他。)

in charge of ... “承担……”、 “主管……”。

Don’t take him too seriously.

(对他的话别太当真。)

seriously “认真地”、 “严肃地”。

He’s not to be believed.

(他不可信。)

这只不过是一个杜撰的故事。

It was just a made-up story.

(这只不过是一个杜撰的故事。)

It sounded too good to be true.

(听起来太好了，让人无法相信。)

just “只是”。a made-up story “杜撰的故事”。

sound “听起来”。too ... to ... “太……以致不能……”。

The story wasn’t true.

(那个故事不是真的。)

The story was made-up.

(那个故事是虚构的。)

made-up “人为的”、 “杜撰的”。

The story was a lie.

(那个故事是假的。)

lie “谎言”。

他这人花言巧语。

He’s a fast talker.

(他这人花言巧语。)

I’ll stay away from him.

(我得离他远远的。)

fast talker “花言巧语的人”、 “行骗的人”。在美国，好的推销员经常被认为必须是fast talker。

stay away from ... “不接近……”、 “避开……”。

He can’t be trusted.

(不能相信他。)

trust “相信”。

He’s a smooth talker.

smooth talker “巧舌如簧的人”、 “花言巧语的人”。

He’s slick.

slick “狡猾的”。

He’s cagey.

(他很狡黠。)

cagey “精明的”、 “狡黠的”。
