LONDON, June 27 -- Five-time Wimbledon champion Venus Williams was ousted from the grass-court Grand Slam by the 32nd Tsvetana Pironkova on Monday.
The 31-year-old American veteran struggled while facing the 23- year-old Pironkova from Bulgaria, failing to make her 12th quarterfinal appearance at Wimbledon with a 6-2, 6-3 defeat.
Pironkova, seeing off Venus in last year's quarterfinals with the same scoreline, will play the eighth seed Petra Kvitova from Czech Republic.
