LA PAZ, June 9 -- The coach of Boliva's national soccer team Gustavo Quinteros on Thursday presented the players selected for the team for the upcoming America's Cup.
The final selection does not include forward Luis Mandes of "The Strongest" club, Edemir Rodriguez or Miguel Hoyos, while Blooming club's captain Alejandro Gomez was the novelty in the team, as local sports observers have forecast him to have a great contribution in the midfield.
Prior to presenting the squad, the Bolivian Federation of Soccer showed the official T-shirt of the team for its participation in the tournament, which will be held in Argentina next month.
Bolivia is in Group A together with Argentina, Colombia and Costa Rica, and will play against Argentina in the inaugural match of the tournament on July 1.
Quinteros said the team will travel to Argentina on Friday. Following is the team roster:
Goalkeepers: Carlos Arias (Maccabi Netanya, Israel), Sergio Galarza (Blooming) and Daniel Vaca (The Strongest).
Defenders: Miguel Angel Hoyos and Luis Gutierrez (Oriente Petrolero), Christian Vargas (San Jose), Ronald Raldes (Colon, Argentina), Ronald Rivero, Edemir Rodriguez and Lorgio Alvarez (Bolivar), and Santos Amador (Nacional Potosi).
Midfielders: Joselito Vaca and Jhasmani Campos (Oriente Petrolero), Ronald Garcia, Walter Flores and Rudy Cardozo (Bolivar), Jaime Robles (Aurora), Jose Luis Chavez and Alejandro Gomez (Blooming).
Forwards: Marcelo Martins Moreno (Shakhtar Donetsk, Ukraine), Ricardo Pedriel (Sivasspor, Turkey), Alcides Pena, Mauricio Saucedo and Juan Carlos Arce (Oriente Petrolero), and Edivaldo Rojas (Naval, Portugal).
