BEIJING, June 2 -- A senior legislator on Tuesday called for solid steps to carry out special research in order to offer valuable advice and suggestions for the formulation of China's outline of the 14th five-year (2021-2025) plan for economic and social development.
Wang Chen, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), made the remarks at an NPC Standing Committee meeting in Beijing on the research for the formulation of the plan.
A sound analysis of the domestic and international situations and a clear understanding of general development trends are the basis for formulating the plan and a prerequisite for carrying out successful research, Wang said.
He said the research should focus on priorities and thorny issues around China's economic and social development in the next five years and should aim to bring about specific and actionable advice and suggestions.
