俄卫星发生史上首次太空相撞

The US Military and Iridium Satellite LLC both confirmed that according to US East Coast time at 11:55 a.m. on 10th a commercial Iridium communications satellite collided with a defunct Russian military communication satellite over northern Siberia. It is the first-ever crash for two big communications satellites in the history of human space.

Of these two satellites one is the US commercial satellite launched in 1997 the other is the Russian satellite put into orbit in 1993 the latter one has already abandoned.The spokesman of the NASA said the crash has left a large number of debris drifting in space which might pose a slight risk to the International Space Station.

美国军方和美国LLC铱星公司12日均确认,美国东部时间10日上午11时55分,美国铱卫星LLC公司的一颗商用通信卫星与一颗已经报废的俄罗斯军用通信卫星10日在西伯利亚北部上空相撞,这是人类太空史上首次发生两颗大型卫星相撞事件。

两颗卫星中,一颗是美国1997年发射的商用卫星,另一颗是俄罗斯1993年发射的卫星,后一颗卫星已经报废。美宇航局发言人说,两颗卫星相撞产生的大量碎片散落到太空中,这对国际空间站可能会产生轻微影响。

One of the two satellites is a commercial satellite launched by the United States in 1997, the other is a Russian satellite launched in 1993, and the latter one has been scrapped. A spokesman for NASA said that a large amount of debris from the collision between the two satellites had scattered into space, which may have a slight impact on the international space station.
