BEIJING, April 11 -- A total of 128 Chinese ministerial officials participated in a tree-planting event Saturday in the capital city.
These officials planted 2,050 saplings in a green space in Beijing's sub-center in the eastern Tongzhou District.
The annual tree-planting by ministerial officials started in 2002. More than 38,200 trees have been planted by 3,229 ministerial officials over the years amid the country's afforestation and greening efforts.
