BEIJING, Dec. 3 -- Chinese Premier Li Keqiang met with El Salvador's President Nayib Armando Bukele Ortez Tuesday at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
Li said since the establishment of diplomatic relations last year, China-El Salvador relations have witnessed continuous development, which serves the common interests of both peoples and helps achieve mutual benefits.
China always believes that all countries are equal regardless of their size, he said.
China supports El Salvador's efforts in maintaining security and stability and improving people's livelihood, Li said. He expressed China's willingness to work with El Salvador to maintain the political foundation of bilateral relations, consolidate their political mutual trust and expand pragmatic cooperation, so as to create more beautiful prospects for their relations.
Noting that China and El Salvador are both developing countries and enjoy great potential for cooperation, Li said China is willing to enhance synergy of development strategies with El Salvador, and foster new highlights of cooperation in such areas as trade, investment, infrastructure construction, agriculture, forestry and fisheries.
Bukele said advancing cooperation with China will bring more opportunities for his country.
El Salvador firmly supports the one-China policy, and is willing to strengthen dialogue with China and step up cooperation in trade, investment, agriculture and people-to-people exchanges, he said, promising to provide convenience and legal guarantee for Chinese investments.
Bukele arrived in China on Sunday for a six-day state visit.
