A type of domestically grown genetically modified dairy cow resistant to an infection that lowers milk yield is expected to reach the market in five to eight years, according to a national legislator.
一名国家立法委员表示，国内饲养的一种可以抵抗牛乳腺炎感染的转基因奶牛将在五到八年内进入市场。奶牛患上牛乳腺炎会降低牛奶产量。
“转基因奶牛”的全程是genetically modified dairy cow，简称GM cow。这种转基因奶牛不会患上可导致奶产量降低的mastitis 科学家给五代实验室老鼠喂了转基因奶牛产的奶，到目前尚未发现老鼠有什么异常。未来还可能培养能够抵抗foot-and-mouth disease
