  抚顺市2016-2017下学期高一期末考试

  英语试卷

  本试卷分第I卷(选择题)和第II卷(非选择题)两部分,考试时间为10分钟,满分10分。 第I卷

  第部分阅读理解(共两节,满分40分)

  (共15题:每小题2分,满分30分)

  阅读下列短文,从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中,选出最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。

Aweren’t any flowers or pleasant smell. I was not happy, so I gave the plant to my friend Linda. One day, another friend Mary called and invited me to her office.

When I walked in, her jasmine flowers surprised me. I reached out to touch the flowers. Mary cut some and gave them to me. I couldn’t help smelling them. Surrounded by the sweet smell of only a handful of these flowers, I suddenly understood something. Mary bought her plant the same time I did. It took a year for her jasmine to bloom. I was so impatient for mine to bloom; regretfully, I gave it away. In a way my life is like the jasmine plant. I need to be patient and let things happen.

Last Sunday Linda told me that she was going abroad the next week. Before she left, she returned the plant to me. This time I am going to wait. I have learned that when we want something in our life, we have to be patient. I am slowly learning to have that patience to wait for my jasmine to bloom.

   A. one day

  B. two weeks

  C. two months

  B

Will it matter if you don't take your breakfast? Recently a test was given in the United States. Those tested included people of different ages, from 12 to 83. During the experiment, these people were given all kinds of breakfasts, and sometimes they got no breakfast at all. Special tests were set up to see how well their bodies worked when they had eaten a certain kind of breakfast. The results show that if a person eats a proper breakfast, he or she will work with better effect than if he or she has no breakfast. This fact appears to be especially true if a person works with his brains. If a student eats fruit, eggs, bread and milk before going to school, he will learn more quickly and listen with more attention to class.

Opposite to what many people believe, if you don't eat breakfast, you will not lose weight. This is because people become so hungry at noon that they eat too much for lunch, and end up gaining weight instead of losing. You will probably lose more weight if you reduce your other meals.

  24. During the test, those who were tested were given ________.

  A. different breakfast or none

  B. very rich breakfast

  C. little food for breakfast

  D. no breakfast at all

  25. According to the passage, if a student does not eat breakfast, ___________.

  A. he will fall ill

  B. his mind will work more slowly

  C. he will not make progress in his study

  D. he will fail to listen to his teacher

  26. The passage mentions that many people believe that if you don't eat breakfast, you will _______.

  A. be healthier

  B. not lose weight

  C. lose weight

  D. gain a lot of weight

  27. Which of the following is not true according to the passage?

  A. Poor breakfasts affect those who work with brains.

  B. Morning diet may cause one to get fatter.

  C. Eating less in lunch and supper may help to lose weight.

  D. Reducing lunch and supper is of less value in weight losing.

Actually we have known a lot of examples and meaningful words to support the fact that we should try our best to ease the bad impression of others. Just like the old saying goes, we should give a better assumption(假设;承担) to the one than we think he was. But many of us always fail to do this.

Take the situation of my class for example. Right at the beginning of the first term when we were freshmen we all showed great favor to each other. And when there was an activity that needed some people to join, we would be willing to attend whether it was interesting or not. And we were really like brothers and sisters, and our class was just like a family, a warm family. But now, I feel tired of those meaningless activities not only because of the boring activities themselves but also the cool response of our classmates.

I think the reasons why the passion (激情) of most classmates is so low may be as follows:

To start with, many of us take part in more than one organization, which will certainly make us tired. Also, in the study fields, many of us may find that our courses are sometimes difficult to understand or comprehend, especially the specialized subjects.

Moreover, “history” teaches us that if one does not study hard, it is possible to fail in the exams. So it is a big and good excuse to say that “I do really want to attend, but I have a lot of homework to do, so...”

Last but not least, some people believe that some of our leaders should not be regarded as a leader; maybe I should say we, as leaders, lost the reputation, support and trust of yours. At least I am the warm-hearted one, although I cannot promise you that your advice will be adopted (采纳“give” you the right to be heard, and to serve you.

Be active to show your talents and abilities and to create a better image of our class. Most important of all, work painstakingly for a better condition that we should have reached.

  32. Which of the following statements is TRUE?

  A. Students were too busy to take part in activities after their classes.

  B. Students’ passion for activities grew gradually because they were interesting.

  C. Students’ passion for activities was high at first but disappeared gradually.

  D. Students were unwilling to participate in activities because of their leaders.

  33. Which can replace the underlined word excuse in the Paragraph 5?

  A. reason

  B. intelligence

  C. measure

  D. curiosity

  34. We can infer from the passage that the writer must be ______.

  A. a devoted class leader

  B. a responsible teacher

  C. a top student in class

  D. a supporter of activities

  35. The writer hopes that all the members of the class will ______.

  A. develop better talents and skills

  B. improve their abilities and creativity

  C. follow others’ advice patiently

  D. work together to make a better class

  例文

  Good morning, ladies and gentlemen.

Some of us are having problems with our parents, as they often look into our school bags or read our diaries. I fully understand why we are not comfortable about it, but there’s no need to feel too sad. Our parents are checking our bags or diaries to make sure we’re not getting into any trouble. They have probably heard some horrible stories about other kids and thought we might do the same. Or perhaps they just want to connect with us but are dong it all wrong. My suggestion is: Tell them we want them to trust us as much as we’d like to trust them. If you don’t think you can talk to them, write them a letter and leave it lying around—they are bound to read it.

  Thank you!
