YANGON, Dec. 7 -- A Russian Pacific Fleet squadron arrived at Myanmar's Thilawa Sea Port in Yangon Thursday on friendly visit, Myanmar naval sources said.
With 293 crew members aboard, the Russian fleet is led by flagship Admiral Panteleev under command of Rear Admiral Eduard Mikhilov.
The Russian fleet delegation met with Real Admiral Moe Aung, Chief of Staff of Myanmar Navy, at the Ayeyawaddy Naval Headquarters shortly after their arrival, the sources said.
The two sides exchanged views on the two countries' maritime security and discussed on exchange of visits between officials of the two navies.
The voyage of large anti-submarine destroyer Admiral Panteleev, accompanied by Boris Butoma large sea tanker, will last until Sunday.
During the visit, the Russian warships will be opened for public on Saturday and joint sports competitions will be held between seamen from the Russian Pacific Fleet and Myanmar Navy.
The Russian delegation will also visit Myanmar navy's facilities and tour significant places in Yangon.
