The trendwatchers and trendsetters at Pantone Color Institute have revealed their 2018 pick for color of the year: the "dramatically provocative and thoughtful purple shade" known as Ultra Violet.

色彩界的潮流观察者和引领者彩通色彩研究所公布了2018年度色彩：“极其挑动思绪又引人深思的”紫外光色。

The color authority describes the blue-based purple shade, more specifically named 18-3838 Ultra Violet, as one that "communicates originality, ingenuity, and visionary thinking that points us towards the future."

彩通色彩研究所将这种以蓝色为基底的紫色形容为“传达独创性、创造力及前瞻性思维，为我们指向未来。”这种紫色的具体色彩名为18-3838紫外光色。

Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the institute, said the color “lights the way to what is yet to come” in a time that “requires inventiveness and imagination”.

研究所执行董事莱阿特丽丝•艾泽曼表示，在“需要创造性和想象力的时代”，紫外光色“为我们点亮了通往未来的道路。”

“It is this kind of creative inspiration that is indigenous to Pantone 18-3838 Ultra Violet, a blue-based purple that takes our awareness and potential to a higher level,” Eiseman said.

艾泽曼说：“基于蓝色的紫外光色本身具有的这种创造灵感提升了我们的认识和潜能的高度。”

On the website of the institute, the color is related with pictures of cosmos in the same shade, which claimed the color “suggests the mysteries of the cosmos”.

在该研究所的网站上，宇宙的图像也呈现出紫外光色，研究所称，紫外光色“象征着宇宙的神秘”。

The company notes that Ultra Violet is increasingly used in packaging and can also be found in "it" foods such as purple-hued cauliflower and carrots; in fashion, it brings a sense of the theatrical, while in home decor it makes a variety of statements, from tradition and elegance to boldness and spirituality, says Pantone.

彩通色彩研究所指出，紫外光色越来越广泛地用于外包装，某些“潮流”食物也呈现出这种色彩，比如紫色的花椰菜和紫色的胡萝卜；在时尚界，紫外光色能带来戏剧感；在室内装饰中，紫外光色象征着传统、优雅、胆量和灵性等特质。

Ultra Violet is not the first enigmatic purple Pantone has put in the spotlight this year: in August, it revealed the new color Love Symbol #2, created in honor of the late musical icon Prince.

紫外光色并非彩通公司今年着重推出的第一种神秘的紫色：今年八月，彩通色彩研究所发布了新色彩“爱的象征#2”，向已故的音乐偶像王子致敬。
