RABAT, Jan. 27 -- Hosts and title favorites Morocco sealed their place at the semifinals of the African Nations Championship (Chan) after beating Namibia 2-0 on Saturday.
In the Stade Mohammed V in Casablanca, the Moroccan squad dominated the game and took the lead through Ayoub El Kaabi's 36th minute goal, which made him the tournament all-time top scorer.
The Atlas Lions continued their pressure on Namibia in the second half as a header from Salaheddine Saidi in the 54th minute secured their debut in the semifinals of the tournament. In 2017, Morocco lost to Nigeria in the quarter-finals.
Morocco topped Group A with seven points after hammering Mauritania 4-0 and Guinea 3-1 before drawing 0-0 with Sudan in their final match in the group-stage.
